The challenge

Whilst the current Raidió Fáilte website has worked well over the years, the website needed a complete revamp to bring it into line with current best practice with regards to website design and technology.  This meant that Raidió Fáilte’s site needed a complete redesign with improved navigation, functionality and user experience so as to better reflect their core message, who they are, what they do and ultimately raise the organisation’s profile.

Our solution

  • Clean, clear navigation: WebsiteNI created a website with clean and clear navigation, enhanced functionality and a more focused user experience design to help improve communications with regular listeners and website visitors. The clear design means that users can easily find the information they are looking for and are aware of the full range of radio programmes, media, services and information on offer. The new website was designed so that administrators at Raidió Fáilte could easily manage the new site moving forward, enabling site admin easy access to update content and images throughout the site. Also evident in the new design is a search capability and optimisation of keywords and phrases for higher search engine rankings.
  • Clearly defined pathways: WebsiteNI worked closely with Raidió Fáilte to bring all their key objectives together in the new website and reflect their corporate branding and messaging. The main homepage and navigation bar provides easy access to key areas, with clearly defined pathways to information and logical categorisation of information. Users do not need to learn how to use the site as they can easily find the information they are looking for. The overall site design is engaging and reflects modern design trends to support, motivate and encourage all kinds of visitors, with calls to action such as ‘Listen Live’, ‘Get In Touch’ and ‘Get Involved’.
  • Radio Player & Schedule, Content as Gaeilge: A key element  in Raidió Fáilte’s new website is the Radio Player & Schedule. The website is integrated with the pop-up player to enable website visitors to listen to the live station online.  The pop-up player will keep the website visitor on the Radio Fáilte website and also display a Playing Now and Up Next schedule. WebsiteNI also incorporated an introduction to broadcasters tied in with the schedule in order to encourage potential new broadcasters to get in touch. Also important in this redesign was the language availability in Gaelige, and so the website was built to automatically default to show content in Gaeilge, with the option for users to choose to change the language to English.
  • Donations, Podcasts, News & Events, Social: The new design also makes donations easy to complete. The design is professional, trustworthy and credible and the card payment page on Raidió Fáilte website is easy to use and takes payments via PayPal. Other key elements include a ‘Podcast’ page and a ‘Training’ page which shows the full range of training courses on offer in a professional and visually engaging layout with strong Calls To Action to make an enquiry or booking form. The ‘News and Events’ section on the new website includes fresh and engaging content with subject categories and an archive of news posts, and an ‘events’ section with a calendar format of upcoming events. The website has also been integrated with Radio Fáilte social media pages to strengthen the marketing opportunities and brand awareness.
